The basement before construction. This area would become the storage/utility area. The finished basement. Behind the door on the left is the new storage/utility areaWhen ever possible we try to put pipes behind the new walls. We also try to leave water meters accessible in closets. The kids play area is defined by this 1/2 wall and the laminate floor. The pipes and meter from the prevous picture are behind the closet door.In many houses the duct work runs under the floor joist. We neatly contain the duct work in soffits. On this project we installed a colonial style column to make the space more formal. Here will go a large closet.Picture of the closet before shelves and paint.Donovan Construction uses metal studs in all of their basements. They make straighter walls, they will not hold moisture and create mold like wood studs do.Metal studs keep the soffits straight too.1000 basement square feet.1000 square feet of living space.
